Biography of Amma Adi Sakthi and Swami Shanmuga
Amma Adi Sakthi and Swami Shanmuga, Amma and Swamiji as they are known to many, are a husband and wife couple who are working to lift the consciousness throughout the world. They carry the Divine Mother's energy in a pristine form and awaken that energy in each of us.
Originally from Singapore, they live as householders, and as a result many have found their life experiences to be very relatable to present day life. Down-to-earth and practical, Amma and Swamiji exude a wonderful lightness, yet their work is powerful and deep.
Amma and Swamiji have had Divine experiences throughout their entire life, though originally they were reluctant to receive them--even at times receiving the highest Divine blessings, and still taking it lightly. But the Divine had other plans.
Amma and Swamiji had a powerful experience with a deep and ancient Mother aspect of the Divine, labeled in the Indian tradition as Mata (Mother) Pratyangira. Amma and Swamiji went in search of information about the Pratyangira energy, but most of what has been recorded about Her is held very tightly by those who know.
The Goddess Sri Maha Pratyangira Devi, with a male lion head and a female body, is said to be ferocious and powerful, Her energy a balance between the masculine and the feminine Shiva/Shakti. Traditionally, Mata Pratyangira has been known to emerge when there is much to be brought into balance. Because of what we're encountering in this current age, it is written that Her energy will be here to help the creation at this time. The energy of this Goddess was known in ancient Egyptian tradition as Sekhmet. The Goddess devours the negative karmas of Her devotees and answers prayers swiftly. She fills the cup of the person's unwanted or negative energy and helps to convert it to positive energy.
Over a period of nearly 10 years, Mata Pratyangira's visits to Amma and Swamiji persisted, with the consciousness frequently coming through them to heal and teach. Within time, Mata Pratyangira merged with Amma and Swamiji, they were chosen to carry the Pratyangira consciousness to the world.
Amma and Swamiji consider Mahavatar Babaji as their first guru, and have been blessed with his visits to them astrally. Several yogis and masters in physical form visited them, confirming to them their purpose. After meditations, tapas and further initiations, they later received deep initiations personally from Swamis of ancient traditions.
The prophecies given in the Divine darshan of Mata Pratyangira Devi have come true. And though they’ve faced a lot of challenges since that time, they have surrendered body, mind, and soul to Mata Pratyangira Devi in service to the world. They say that the Divine Mother is their jivatman (their spirit) and the gift of this lifetime. They have chosen to share this energy with the world through the Ekatvam Foundation.
Amma and Swami do not consider themselves as gurus in the traditional sense of the word. They acknowledge that they are ordinary people, facing the same set of challenges as most of us. They carry an extra ordinary energy of the Divine Mother very humbly, and have dedicated their lives to giving and sharing this light with the seekers of the source. They are simply serving the truth. They receive pranams as pranams to the Divine Mother inside them, and inside the person offering the pranam as well. They are students of the heart and not part of any caste, creed or religion. Amma and Swami are servants to the consciousness within others.
