As a former marathon runner, Elizabeth was first attracted to the physical practice of yoga, and while the asanas produced great benefits, she soon found that the spiritual component of yoga intrigued her most.
Elizabeth took her first teacher training with At One Yoga in Scottsdale, AZ in 2001. She then completed residential study at the Sivananda Ashrams in Kerala, India and in San Francisco, where she also worked as an editorial assistant at the Yoga Journal Magazine. In 2002 she completed a nine-month, 1,100-hour training with Yoga Arts in Byron Bay, Australia. She also completed the Road to Om Training with Cyndi Lee in 2005.
Elizabeth leads on-going courses for 200 and 500-hour teacher certification as well as prenatal and therapeutic teacher training. She teaches all levels of Vinyasa Yoga, while maintaining a Private Therapeutic Yoga Practice. Elizabeth formerly worked as director of teacher training for Yoga Effects in Midtown Manhattan and more recently as owner and director of B Yoga NYC in Soho.
She is trained in Neurolinguistic Programming, The Sedona Method of Emotional Release and Shiatsu Japanese Massage. Elizabeth produced a series of 5 Vinyasa yoga DVDs, as well as an album of melodic Sanskrit chanting called Yoga Lullabies.
Students come to Elizabeth’s classes to be simultaneously nurtured and challenged. Her teaching is a mélange of clear verbal instruction and skilled manual adjustments, devotion and fun. She reminds students that while the practice is important it does not always have to be serious. When she is not teaching or practicing yoga and meditation, she is probably playing with her Blue Heeler, Rosie.
