Michele Tornio Hower

Michele's yoga practice integrates Vinyasa and Iyengar Yoga and is influenced by body-mind centering and release-based modern dance. She seeks an organic flow of poses that invite the body to clearly and intelligently unfold and reorganize. Focus and support are given to anatomical precision and individual expression. Michele discovered yoga through meditation 12 years ago in New Hampshire. In 1997 she found her first hatha yoga teacher, Debra Bluth, in Boston. Debra instilled in Michele the need to make poses an honest journey from the inside out. In 2000 Michele began a six-year tutelage in New Mexico with master teacher Kim Schwartz, student of Ramanand Patel. Since moving to NYC 2 years ago she has centered her focus on teachers Genny Kapuler and Dharma Mittra. She has also studied with Rodney Yee, Mitra Tredway and Anna Forrest.
