Alison Jolicoeur
Alison Jolicoeur has had a lifelong interest in health and spirituality and has been practicing Kundalini Yoga since she came to New York City in 1996. Born in Massachusetts, she moved to New York to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter and discovered that Kundalini Yoga helped her stay balanced and open, which allowed her creative energy to come through. Alison found yoga to be a powerful method to warm and relax the body as well as quiet the mind. She also found that meditating on one's essence and internal truth provided peace and courage to face life's challenges. Committed to bringing the science of yoga to as many people as she can, Alison's classes reflect her natural abilities, compassion and creativity. She completed her teacher training in Kundalini Yoga with the renowned Ravi Singh in March 2002, and completed "The Khalsa Way" Preganancy Yoga teacher training with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa in October 2007.
Described as the “yoga of awareness,” Kundalini Yoga combines exercises that focus on building strength and increasing flexibility, with powerful breathing techniques, mantras and meditations. Previous yoga experience is not needed and results are felt immediately. The ultimate goal of Kundalini Yoga is to awaken one’s Kundalini energy, the creative force within. The energy centers of the body, or chakras, receive a burst of energy and one is left feeling at peace and connected to one’s true essence. To complete the circle, this heightened state of awareness is brought into everyday life.
