Emily Seymour is from Camden, Maine. Dance is her first love and Yoga is her passion. Her first dance experiences were pre-natal ballet classes. Emily's yoga education began in 1995 with Sara Yarborough Smith, an Alvin Ailey dancer who included yoga postures in her warm up sequences. In 1996 Emily began studying with Arthur Hall, a trailblazer of Afro-American dance. She spent three years apprenticing with Arthur's nationwide Artist in Residency program, where she learned how to teach dance and yoga to thousands of children. Her apprenticeship inspired her to become a teacher.
In 2006 she completed her1000 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification and Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Eastern Arts from Naropa University. She has 225 additional training hours from assisting her primary teacher, Yogi Nataraja Kallio. Emily teaches an integral synthesis of traditional Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, and draws inspiration from the nexus that is her practice. Her classes include asana, pranayama, meditation and Yoga philosophy. Her intention is to support her students in becoming their own best teachers.
